Education Media Consultation

​I have been lucky enough to have been able to expand my education consultation work into the exciting world of educational media production, and I have worked as a consultant on many projects and commissions for a range of media producers and creators, including including The Micro:Bit Foundation and The BBC

I have worked as an education consultant for several independent media producers who had been commissioned to produce specific media resources for BBC Bitesize and BBC Teach. Work has included support with pitching, concept development, clarification of educational content, script development and editing, feedback on rough cuts and answering educational content queries from the client.

I have also worked directly with BBC Bitesize and BBC Teach. Work for the BBC has included:

​I enjoy working on a project from start to finish, helping to develop the brief, consulting on the educational content of scripts and classroom activities and writing Teacher Notes. I have consulted in this way on several Safer Internet Day Live Lesson projects, and the BBC Micro:bit Next Gen Playground Survey. 

I can work to very short deadlines, and adapt quickly to changes in the brief, circumstances and personnel.

Support for pitches and commissions

I can offer support with preparing a pitch

  • Giving feedback on initial concept and ideas
  • Clarifying educational requirements within a brief
  • Researching and preparing resources for a pitch
  • Being part of a pitch meeting to support creatives

​Following a successful pitch I can offer the following:

  • Support with further concept development
  • Provision of appropriate educational content, including vocabulary and correct terminology
  • Script feedback and suggestions for development 
  • Feedback on tone and age appropriateness
  • Script editing for style, grammar and clarity

Writing for pupils and teachers

  • I can write and edit educational material for the primary age group from EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
  • I can follow a brief and adhere to style guides
  • I can suggest appropriate layouts, use of graphics and other visual materials to support written materials for different age groups and key stages from EYFS to KS2
  • I can write teaching notes and lesson plans aimed at teaching and support staff to support media resources
